The honeybee is a social insect. It collects and produces excellent natural remedies such as bee venom, wax, royal jelly, propolis, bee bread, pollen, and honey—all within a highly organized colony.

A bee colony is capable of producing between 15 and 50 kilograms of honey in a single year. Bees pollinate both cultivated and wild plants. Through this pollination work, bees provide an irreplaceable, essential service to humanity. Insect pollination is indispensable for the majority of our fruit-bearing crops, such as berries, cherries, pears, and apples, as well as vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers, and so on.

A bee colony is composed of individual bees that cannot survive independently of one another. The bee colony therefore constitutes a single organism. A colony consists of the queen (also called the queen bee), the male drones, and the worker bees. Within the hierarchy, each individual bee is assigned rights, duties, and tasks corresponding to its age and nature.

Despite their industrious work, bees do not interfere with—let alone destroy—other habitats. We can’t do without bees!
